The average Uber driver makes between $20-$45 /hr depending on which product they drive i.e UberX, UberXL, UberSelect. Some drivers like Chris can make upto $3,000 /wk however, we cannot guarantee this as some drivers struggle to make $700/wk. The are some who reckon the average Uber driver is making $600/week. This is based on an average trip being $17.50 and obtaining 2 trips per hour which then equates to $35/hr and if one did 40 hrs per week this would be $72,800 per year.

Note that  It all depends on when you drive, where you drive and what tips and tricks you have up your sleeve that others don’t have. If you are thinking of doing Uber full time, we recommend you first try it out part-time and see if this is viable and fits in with the lifestyle that you want. If you do not have a complying vehicle, its advisable you rent or borrow one and trial driving for Uber before committing to buy one.

When large groups need amazing rides?

Brisbane and the Gold Coast are excited to be launching UberXL which allows riders to request vehicles which can seat up to 6 passengers.

To become eligible for UberXL, vehicles must have 7 or more seats (including the driver) and satisfy all the UberX requirements.

How much extra will UberXL drivers earn?

Compared to an UberX trip, an UberXL trip should cost around 50% more Will UberX trips remain an option for UberXL drivers?

As long as your vehicle is eligible, you can still accept requests for UberX and UberXL. This allows drivers the best experience of high fares and high demand across both levels. These trips will remain available to UberSELECT and UberASSIST drivers. All non-XL trips will remain on the normal price structure.

When will UberXL be most busy?

The busiest period for UberXL is expected to be 5pm – 4am on Fridays and Saturdays; drivers can expect gross peak earnings of $50+ per hour in this period.

Airport commuters are also expected to be heavy users of UberXL between 4am – 9am on airport runs, so this is an exciting prospect for drivers.

What if more than 4 people get in an UberX vehicle?

If more than 4 passengers try to board an UberX vehicle, then you should politely ask the rider to cancel the trip and, once cancelled, rebook with UberXL.

Safety is paramount for everyone using Uber, so no driver must ever take more passengers than they have seat belts for. If this occurs, then drivers must politely decline the trip on safety reasons and should suggest additional/more suitable vehicles.

Uber XL drivers who complete an UberX trip where more than 4 passengers have got on board, can request an UberXL fare adjustment in the partner app by logging into Earnings > Trip History > Help > Fare Review. The fare will then be reviewed and adjusted accordingly.

How do I get UberXL set up for my 7 seater?

Drivers with 7-seater vehicles currently active on Uber should have been notified that they are now on UberXL. If this has not happened then visit your local oce to get your UberXL account correctly set up and activated.
